Redesigning Bumpa’s Landing Page

Bumpa is a digital commerce platform for African sellers. Basically, its digital infrastructure empowers sellers to set up their online stores and manage their activities. It also allows these merchants to promote their products online, track and manage orders, take care of inventory and deliveries.

Background

I recently became aware of Bumpa's efforts to address a problem for marketplace owners and sellers in Nigeria and Africa. I was impressed by their progress, but when I visited their website, I noticed that the main landing page had not been updated in some time and had inconsistent design elements. The page explaining their integration with Meta, however, had a modern and updated design. This contrast in design quality caught my attention and made me want to learn more about Bumpa's approach to website design and user experience.

Why did I do this?

I was motivated to redesign Bumpa's landing page because I am passionate about the problem they are solving. As a company that provides a platform for online sellers in Africa to grow their businesses, Bumpa is creating a unique and valuable solution to the local audience.
As someone who works at a startup that builds SaaS solutions for Shopify store owners, I was particularly drawn to Bumpa's mission and approach. I believed that by redesigning their landing page, I can help them better showcase the value of their product and improve the user experience for potential customers.

What I aimed to achieve

  • To create a harmonious and cohesive visual design for Bumpa's landing page that incorporates the brand's style, color, typography, and content.
  • To implement heuristics and other elements, such as compelling calls-to-action, that will improve the page's ability to convert visitors into customers.

Auditing what exists already

In order to identify areas for improvement, I conducted an audit of Bumpa's existing website and compared it to the page featuring their integration with Meta. This allowed me to pinpoint specific elements that needed to be updated or improved in the redesign.

Putting ideas together

In order to complete the redesign efficiently and effectively, I defined a clear set of goals and a style guide to guide my design decisions.
I drew inspiration for colors and imagery from the Bumpa app's page on the app store, and used the same typography as the recent Meta integration page (a pairing of Freizeit and General Sans typefaces).
By following a structured approach and drawing on existing design elements, I was able to create a consistent and cohesive redesign that met the goals of the project.

The Style Guide
In order to engage users and communicate the value of Bumpa's product, I focused on creating visually appealing and attention-grabbing content that accurately represents the brand. I highlighted key features and organized information in a clear and logical hierarchy, with the aim of guiding users through the page and helping them understand the benefits of using Bumpa.

First impression matters

The redesign of the hero section was inspired by the idea that green is all about growth and abundance, and that Bumpa's many features will hold your business together can help keep it strong and thriving.

Showing value to build trust

Using numbers to highlight the value of the product is a great way to build trust and credibility with new users. I wanted to make sure this was clear, so I re-organized the value proposition and added visuals to help reinforce the message.
